For the students in the self-contained exceptional education classroom at Tarrant High School, vocational skills and job based tasks are imperative to foster independence in the students' lives after high school. Managing a beverage cart for the faculty of THS is just one activity in which the students participate that prepare them for adulthood. Every week, teachers submit their orders via google docs prior to Friday. Then, students prepare and complete the beverage orders, deliver the beverages, and collect the money from faculty. Through this activity, the students' gain understanding of working collaboratively as a team, following directives from individuals in supervisory roles, following step by step directions for real life job skills, and reaping benefits of hard work. The students take their roles very seriously and look forward to this endeavor every week.
